God bless America...

Regardless of your political leanings, we have to all celebrate today's historic inauguration. Only in this country can a person experience the freedoms that America offers, and my family and I became naturalized citizens just for this reason. God bless us all.

Heeey you guuuuyyyysss!!!!

I read today that a revival of The Electric Company is in the works. Hurray! PBSKidsGo.com even has a webpage already online!

Certainly, my memories of growing up in the 70's always include snippets of life like wearing wide leg jeans with large belt buckles, polyester floral print shirts that I couldn't get off fast enough coz they itched like hell, and cheap striped tank tops and other now-widely regarded fashion faux paux.
Most importantly, the Seventies gave me Sesame Street, with old Mr. Hooper in the corner store, and the show The Electric Company, with their groovy moves and young Violet Beauregard (Denise Nickerson) from the Willie Wonka and The Chocolate Factory fame dancing "Sweet Sweet Sway". June Allison (Julie) just irritated me, maybe because she was a fellow Asian and I just couldn't understand why she was famous and I wasn't. Since we lived in the Philippines, learning English was made even cooler by knowing all the slang and such from these groovy people! It had all these prominent actors (Bill Cosby, Rita Moreno, Morgan Freeman, et al) performing silly segments before they were famous, but I sure missed it when Bill Cosby stopped showing up in the shows. It just was never the same after he left.
I do recall many a time with my older sis A where we would sit across each other in the dark with a flashlight focused on our faces to make our facial shadows on the wall. We can then proceed with the letter of the day "B, Buh, B, Buh...yeah". So fun!!!

To start with...

My oldest son came home from shopping with his dad yesterday with a pair of Guess jeans measuring 34x34. I wonder why there aren't any women's jeans that I know of that come with exact measurements. I'm petite (ok short) so I'm always spending an extra $10 just to rehem any pair of pants. The fact that I can't sew is something to discuss at another time. I sure darn well need to know if there's something else out there for us short-legged girth-challenged women.
